In 1979, the idealistic
Lucio “Terry” S. Collado, tried his skills in minor delegated construction
projects that
supplied labor, furnished and reinforced pipes, and supplied sand and gravel.
Realizing that he was a cadet in
a colossal industry in Region II of the Philippines, he opted to establish
himself as one of the best in the district
and at the same time, provide efficient products and unsurpassed service
this native region’s tax payers deserve.
On 1982, Ybanag Cadet Construction (YCC) was officially founded.
The company initially sought a “Category D” accreditation from the Philippine
Constractor Accreditation Board
(PCAB).
This allowed him to gain more experience and credibility in the field. Eventually,
due to the undeterred
efforts of the
company and years of experience in various categories, YCC was ready to
tackle multi-million
projects. Ultimately, on
July 1, 1992, PCAB upgraded and reclassified this company as a “Category
AAA”,
the highest catergory every general
contractor aspires. From its humble beginnings ten years ago, the firm
has
to its credit a total of over Three Hundred
Fifty Million Pesos (Php 350,000.00) in constructed and finished
projects.
With regards to its mission-vision of providing efficient products and unsurpassed
service, the company then
became
pioneer suppliers of crushed aggregates that led to production of other
construction materials such
as ready-mixed
concrete, asphalt, hollow blocks, Reinforced concrete pipes and concrete
posts. It likewise
has established three (3)
plants to wit: Concrete Batching Plant, Asphalt Plant, and a Stone Crushing
Plant.
Not to mention that the company tried
its hand in a dredging and reclamation project in Aparri, Cagayan
by acquiring
a Nine hundred (900) cubic meter per
hour dredging vessel.
With all these resources at hand, YCC still looks for innovative ways to
become a key player in Tuguegarao’s
economic
and social growth. This millennium, the company felt it was time to diversify
into other industries.
Now, the company not
only ventures into construction and mining, but it will also try its hand
in real estate
development and farming. These
industries are obviously interconnected in so many ways. In 2001, YCC
branched
to become Ybanag Realty & Development
(YRDC) Corporation and Ybanag Agro-Industrial
Estate Corporation (YAIEC),
respectively.
YRDC’s land development projects to date include the construction of road
networks, drainage, landscaping,
and construction
of the Sierra Woods field office. It has also completed the Sierra Woods
Golf Driving Range
& Coffee Shop, Mini-golf course
and Practical Shooting Range. Other achievements are the construction
of
various houses within Tuguegarao. Some of its
on-going projects are its socialized to middle-class
subdivisions in Barangays
San Gabriel and Larion Alto, Tuguegarao
City. A milestone project will be the
Sierra Woods Leisure Estates, a farm
lot subdivision project that will be marketed as a retirement village.
The
company has big hopes with these projects and intends to accredit the Farm
village with the Philippine
Retirement Board.
YAIEC, on the other hand, has ventured in sustainable farming. It has started
operations on sugar cane,
rice, corn, soybeans, sunflower, hay and various
vegetable plantations. The company also deals with
cattle and sheep breeding.
It has plans to become a model farm in the Cagayan Valley region.
The company
hopes to go into mechanized farming with the use of a mechanical planter,
cultivator
and harvester like those used in Iowa, USA. The company’s goal
is not only to promote
mechanized agriculture but also to educate farmers
within the region to become their own
entrepreneurs.
